In this adventure across the Andes, we will appreciate three of the attractions that this circuit offers:
Palcoyo: The Cordillera de Colores, where you can clearly distinguish more than 4 rock outcrops that allow you to appreciate unusual colors. These colors result from deposits of different layers of sediments of various colors, along with other minerals, dating back approximately 24 million years.
Stone Forest: A rocky outcrop of different shapes, the product of natural erosion of the rock generated over thousands of years, resulting in natural cliffs and whimsical shapes at the top of Palcoyo.
Ausangate: The highest snow-capped peak in Cusco (6380m), considered the main Apu (Sacred Mountain) since the time of the Incas.
Seeing all these formations together is the best example to appreciate the Andes in all their splendor.
Our tour begins with pick-up from the hotel from 6.30 to 7.00 am, and then we go to the town of Checacupe (approximately 2 hours). Upon arriving at this small and picturesque town we will have free time to use the bathrooms, buy hydrating drinks and snacks. . Then we will continue our trip for an additional 1 hour to the starting point of the walk, the community of Palcoyo (4200 meters above sea level).
The adventure begins with an imposing view of the Stone Forest and at the same time some colorful mountains that will indicate that we are already very close to the Cordillera de Colores. After an introduction by our guide, we will begin our walk. The ascent will be pleasant and will last approximately 30 minutes. During the tour we will observe a great variety of South American camelids and reaching the top we will be able to appreciate the Imposing Apu Ausangate (approx. 6380 m).
This place is also unique and magical since nature capriciously formed this landscape, it is there where we have the respective explanation of the place, then the offering ceremony to the Pachamama and of course free time for photographs, enjoying and exploring the Cordilleras de Colores and the Stone Forest. After enjoying a moment of tranquility in contact with nature and the Apus (spirits of the Mountains) we will begin our return to the town of Cusipata where we will have lunch. Later we will return to the city of Cusco, ending our tour at approximately 5:00 pm.
